Inspiring Leaders PodcastTM
Never Stop Growing!
Whether you want to climb the corporate ladder or Mount Everest, you'll want to hear this episode. We’re talking with Extreme Himalayan Climber, Al Hancock to find out what leadership and mountain climbing have in common.
“Doing Nothing Gets Nothing Done” Al Hancock is a highly inspiring Keynote Speaker. He also happens to be on a mission to climb the world's 14 highest peaks. It’s called the BIG 14 CHALLENGE. With this, Al will become the second person in North America to have ever pushed themselves this hard both physically and mentally. “If you’re searching for that one person who can make a difference, take a look in the mirror”
Several years back, Al climbed North America’s highest peak in Alaska, followed by the highest peaks in Europe and South America. Then, after summiting Mt. Everest in 2007, Al set his sights on scaling the highest mountain on each of the world's 7 continents, known as the “Seven Summits”. After climbing the Vinson Massif in Antactica and Kilimanjaro in Africa, he became one of only 200 people in the World to have accomplished this.
But Al was just getting started. After this, he set his sights on the Holy Grail of mountaineering: Climbing the 14 highest mountains on Earth. This is the “BIG 14 CHALLENGE”. Today, Al has climbed 7 of the World’s highest mountains, having just returned from a successful ascent of Lhotse in Nepal, the world’s 4th highest peak. “What makes you unstoppable? It’s called Passion. Follow that.” We sat down with this Extreme Mountaineer to find out what Leadership Lessons we can take from the thin air of the Himalayan Mountains to apply to our Boardrooms and Teams. Join us for this 20 minute exploration of leadership and mountaineering, and find out what it’s like to stand on the summit of Mount Everest.
